15.06.13 Waistcoats, Football and a Walk in the Garden

On-line exhibition days 10,11 &12

My internet server has been ‘down’ (would antidepressants help?) so there’s a bit of catching up to do!

So today we have display of waist coats – I just love a nice waistcoat, I can be really scruffy but pop a waistcoat on and I am transformed……………

This one is knitted in Sirdar Crofter, a truly remarkable yarn that transforms into a convincing fair-isle as you knit. Penny is embellished with silk and tiny seed pearls, I really am transformed……………..

The three waistcoats below deserve a ecological star as they are all made from recycled garments …………save the planets and look good whilst doing it……………

This nifty little waistcoat is reversible and is made from two recycled jumpers discarded by  my husband. The jumpers were lightly felted then bonded together, then iron-on applique and hand-made bias -binding was added.

My daughter’s old school cardigan provided the felt for this one; lined in a cotton print and embellished  with   cream felt applique and splattering of beads.

Ever wondered who that strange woman searching through charity shop jumpers looking for pure wool garments? You got it, it’s me. This charity shop buy (once a gents jumper) felted perfectly and really looks stylish  with ribbon, applique and beads……………………

My lovely, lovely friend has just phoned; she’s booked her mother on a last minute special-offer cruise. Only now has she discovered that the cruise’s theme is football! I’ll bet the old lady has a ball …………………….sorry

My son who owns the Kings Head at Great Bircham – look it up it’s really nice – has just called with an armful of tablecloths – the restaurant is so busy that they have run out of fresh linen…………….. Mum to the rescue……… this is such a nice way to spend a Saturday evening ………………can I have them ironed and ready by 11pm?…………………..please.

Well, before I go, I must take you on a little trip around my new garden. I planted the first plant on 28th June last year, before that it was just a rough piece of ground…..

Enjoy…………….
