Still Day 24: Carrión los Condes

Part two

I rechecked again, I definitely had the right place and here I shall show you a collection of photographs, for I am staying in the monastery of San Zoilo and it is Easter Day…..

There is such peace and well being here, a space to think, a time to reflect on all the feet that have walked on these stones over the centuries,

it was first documented in 948…… but most of it dates back to the 11th century…..

There are 14 pilgrim hostels in Carrión De Los Condies, and I get to land in the San Zoilo monastery…

I’m holding my door key in my hand, no chance I’ll take it by mistake….

The murdered Counts of Carrión’s mortal remains lie here in the chapel ……

Even this little dog at his master’s feet in intrigues me…….

Despite the bloodshed of ages past, I kfeel quite isolated from all ills here, peace reins in all the walls and corridors, one can feel a huge sense of well-being…..

The chapel……

The view from my bedroom window

Oh and just one more photo before I go to bed (the bed is actually rather creaky, I wonder if it’s original) ……..

Love and goodnight Susan x
